Tourism Ministry of India Organises Trekking Training Course In Ladakh

LadakhThe Indian Skiing & Mountaineering Institute (IISM) Gulmarg, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India in collaboration with the Indian Travel & Tourism Management Institute (IITTM), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Tourism, has organized a Trekking Adventure Tourism Training Courses.

This 10-day training course, the first of its kind in the country, teaches local youth in different aspects of mountain trekking and gives them hands on experience as well. More than 30 local youth were enrolled in the first batch which started on September 24, 2019. It will train about 90 local youth in three batches.

On 12 October 2019, the training programs completed. The trekking program starts with a briefing and the participants cover places like Spithuk, Then, Zinchen, Rumbak, Stok la Base, Stock within 10 days and will return to Leh. The purpose of this training program is to improve Trekking's basic skills in the youth who can later use these skills to become guides or entrepreneurs in the future.
