Why does Rajasthan have so many Palaces & Forts?

Posted on December 30th, 2014

Rajasthan is the largest province by area in India with the Thar desert making up for 60% of the total area. Rajasthan is highly sought after by Tourists for the majestic Palaces & Forts that are scattered through the area, a few of which are Luxurious Heritage Hotels now. It is also home to two National Tiger Reserves, the Ranthambore and Sariska National park which are a part of the Aravalli region. Ranthambore Reserve got its name from the Regal Fortress built in that region during the 12th century and is now a part of the Tiger Reserve.
