Chief Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir government, BVR Subrahmanyam held a gathering in New Delhi with Union Secretary, Civil Aviation and other Airport Authority of India (AAI) authorities including Member Planning, AAI for advancement of existing Kargil  for full task of business flights including Boeing, Airbus, and so forth.

The MoU with AAI is expected to be signed by July, 15. The foundation stone for the extension of the runway is expected to be laid by the end of August, which will kick start commencement of other works.

It is imperative to make reference to that Kargil has a Civil Airport with a runway of 6000 ft, ATC Tower and so on. AnMoU was marked among AAI and Indian Air Force on October 10, 2016. The benefits created by AAI were given over to the IAF for their tasks, including common activities.
